Where can I get a download of 4.08b? I want to try it out and see if it fix n intermittent problem with Lord4.07. The first caller of the day in 4.07 s in or enters the game and it gives the announcenment like "You clean your weapon" and then it exits the game sending them back to the BBS door menu. get back in and it lets them know they are in the 'maint' other places... t is no maint other places. I do have a lord Maint nightly run batch file. Th game proceeds perfectly and the rest of the callers for the day have no problems. Just the first caller each day.

Sounds like your nightly Maint batch file event is hanging and not
completing properly. I'd say you should check your logs and see what's happening with that (make sure it's actually finishing/exiting).

It is my night run batch file that handles all doors including LORD and
it exits with 0 no errors in the log. I was very curious about that
myself because of the timing when I had all the nightly runs separate
and when I took them to one master batch file is about the same time
this issue with the first caller to enter lord gets sent back to door
menu issue started. More investigation is needed. Happy new year
Gamgee.
OK, well, not sure what would cause that. I use version 4.06 because
it's registered to me (paid for it back in the early 90's), and 4.06 is

it's registered to me (paid for it back in the early 90's), and 4.06 is
the last version that honors the old (valid) registrations. Not sure
what kind of nightly "maintenance" involves LORD, as there is no need
for that in LORD that I'm aware of. Just checked the docs and there's
no mention of maintenance for LORD. Anyway, happy New Year to you also.
... Gone crazy, be back later, please leave message.

Yeah, thanks but I probably won't even bother. 4.06 works fine and I
don't think there's any significant difference. Also, at least for me
right now, their website won't even open.

If I remember right, 4.07 was when Michael Preslar took over
development (or started making actual changes), basically added some
odd colors in wierd spots, and a bunch of spelling mistakes. Then, in
4.08 he started adding ansi, including at least one long scroller.. and was still ridden with spelling errors.
So, I'd probably have to say that 4.06 was/is definitely the cleanest version. :)

You can actually go in and replace that long scroller with one of the
older, single-screen/simpler, ANSIs. I did that on one of the games
on Moe's.

I just think that after 4.06 more bugs/spelling errors were introduced, is all.. but 4.07+ was a new programmer trying to do new things with it, which I still respect in any regard. It was a shame what Gameport did to Preslar, though (I think he had the rights to work on the source, and they basicallyWhat they did to him was the same thing comIP did to pcmike. They had a deal and then the money stopped coming in even though he was generating sales.
few of the beta testers as a "!@#$ you" to Gameport. Eventually, after Preslar disappeared and Gameport got very slow and/or stopped answering emails, it was leaked out to everyone. :)
