I hope the storm that is coming this weekend, isn't bad.
Last time we got a storm like this, we were without power for a
month... How bad do you guys think it will be? I'm debating on
renting a generator or getting a hotel. I am not happy!!! :(

No, we have an adequate infrastructure which is funded by out taxes. as should you. you should contact your congressman and local govt.
you shouldn't live like you are in a 3rd world country.
Last time we had an extended power outage, my BBS was running bare-metal on a laptop. I was able to take it to Starbucks and transfer mail - I'd download everything then crash my downlinks.
All our lines are above ground. I don't know if i would call that
3rd world country, though. My syster has stage four cancer and needs
oxygen (she is only 40) and if our power goes out, we will have
issues.

what kind of extended power outage would YOU have in a major metro area?

I lived in an area where electric was underground. Even so, you can
just about bet that the lines eventually run above ground somewhere
and, if they get bad ice, your power is still going out.

I wish we had underground power. I'm in the hills along the California coast, and on my little cul-de-sac street, half of the street is fed power from the cross-streets.

where i lived before, ice or cold weather was not the problem with
power lines. what would take them down were high winds, trees and morons hitting power boxes with their cars. when i was in milwaukee people hitting shit was the main cause of my outages.
she has backup tanks. i had a pt job where i delivered things. she will be fine.

Yeah man I was exited to see someone brought her backup tanks! On the
plus side, our power didn't go out!
Thanks for your concerns buddy

Why you mad bro? I wasn't talking about you or anyone. It's not
something I would get mad about. What you feeling mad, because you are rude and trash talk others on here.

This is the latest from Ryan Hall, Y'all:
I love watching his briefings and his live streams.
He surely wasn't happy about all the fuss about the groundhog...
I agree with Bill Murray from the 1993 movie "Groundhog Day"... "a thousand people freezing their butts off to look at a rodent".
But, that's Punxatawney's big tourist draw each year.
I watched the stream from last weekend and I think he's getting
a bit annoyed at Y'allbot breaking in every few minutes. He
says he can't turn it off, just dismiss the call. Worse,
sometimes Y'allbot gives the wrong info, making the
interruption even more annoying. Personally, I could do
without it.
It's a pointless tradition, IMO. I think what annoyed him more
was the fact that Phil's prediction was read off a scroll and
not from visual evidence.
Loved the movie. I often reference it when someone asks me,
"How's it going?" I just say, "It's Groundhog Day". Most
people get it.
Makes you wonder how they survive the 364 other days of the
year.
