Is IMAP a memory hog, or to be considered unstable currently?

Just curious if it should be avoided for now, or if it is relatively
    safe to turn on?

I'm using the IMAP service and it seems to be working just fine. I have a 4GB system though.

I think the imapservice.js is safe, it's just known to have compatibility issues. I don't recall any memory or stability problems with it.

Cool, will probably just setup a separate sbbs.imap.ini and
services.imap.ini to run it in an isolated container.

Been considering doing the same for nntp, and running email separately
    as well.

Cool, thanks.. I have the BBS on a 2GB host currently, with about 1GB available, so will give it a try as-is, probably limiting to 500mb ram,
if I notice it getting killed too much, will grow the VPS to 4GB.

I might grow it anyway, thinking on running PostgreSQL on it to do
some of the integration work I'd been considering. Or may go with a
    DO hosted instance.

Thunderbird definitely doesn't seem to like it... tried to create a Sent folder, and it just doesn't seem to do it, will maybe try with Windows
Mail later. I do think it's interesting that the message groups show
    up though.

Yeap with thunderbird i have no good result with imap, but nttp work
    like a charm.
